Vanderbilt Women’s Basketball guard Madison Greene will officially miss the 2025-26 season after suffering an injury in practice last week, according to a press release. Vanderbilt Athletics has not disclosed the type of injury.
Greene averaged 6.8 points and 2.2 rebounds per game last season as a redshirt freshman. She led the Commodores in scoring off the bench in 15 contests and tallied double-digit points off the bench eight times. She was also the first Commodore since 2018 to score 25 points off the bench, which she achieved against Dayton on Dec. 19, 2024.
Head coach Shea Ralph released a statement on the injury in a release from Vanderbilt Athletics.
“Madison is in great hands with our medical team, and we will fully support her through the recovery process and her return to the court,” Ralph said.
Greene was expected to be a key depth piece this upcoming season for Vanderbilt Women’s Basketball, as many expected her to take a jump after her encouraging performance last year. Guards Mikayla Blakes and Jada Brown will now have to pick up the slack with the loss of Greene.
Vanderbilt Women’s Basketball returns to action at the Oui-Play Paris where it’ll face California in the City of Love on Nov. 3, 2025.
