Vanderbilt long snapper Julian Ashby was selected by the New England Patriots with the 251st (Round 7, pick 35) pick of the 2025 NFL Draft.
The Patriots’ pick breaks a three-year draftless drought for Vanderbilt. The Commodores have not had a player taken in the NFL Draft since 2021, when Dayo Odeyingbo was selected with the 54th pick by the Indianapolis Colts.
Ashby was a starter for the Commodores in 2025, starting in all 13 games. He played in a total of 114 snaps and recorded two tackles, one against Kentucky and one against South Carolina. He was also named a semifinalist for the Patrick Mannelly Award, given each year to the nation’s top long snapper.
Prior to joining Vanderbilt, the Lilburn, Georgia, native was the starting long snapper at Furman for three seasons. He executed 363 snaps with the Paladins and recorded 10 total tackles.
