Vanderbilt fall sports had home matchups in football, soccer, tennis and swim over the past month, hosting conference and non-conference opponents. Take a look at these events through the lenses of our cameras.
Football
Vanderbilt Football took two home losses over the past month, falling 28-45 to Kentucky on Sept. 23 and 21-38 to Missouri on Sept. 30. With lackluster output by Vanderbilt’s offense, punter Matthew Hayball was able to showcase his skills and was named punter of the week after the Kentucky game.
Soccer
The soccer team wrapped up its non-conference schedule, decisively winning a hometown rivalry matchup versus Middle Tennessee State on Sept. 10. The team has since begun their SEC matchups, winning their home games against Ole Miss and Texas A&M, holding both opponents scoreless.
Women’s Tennis
The Vanderbilt women’s tennis team hosted the June Stewart Invitational on Sept. 22. On Friday, they took home five victories out of their nine matches, facing Purdue in singles and Louisville in doubles. On Saturday, Vanderbilt won every one of their singles matches but dropped both of their doubles matches. Sunday wrapped up the tournament with Vanderbilt winning all eight of their matches, defeating Ole Miss in singles and Purdue in doubles.
Swimming
The swimming team opened their season with a match against Florida, competing against the Gators at the Centennial Sportsplex. Despite many strong moments, and multiple school records being broken, Vanderbilt fell to Florida 180-75.
