This week’s photos capture lively moments from campus and Nashville’s music scene with performances by She’s Green, Sombr and Conan Gray. Photographers also documented a historic football win, rounding out a week full of energy and excitement.
Lights on the Lawn
DJ/Producer duo Twinsick and DJ Xandra lit up the crowd on Alumni Lawn for Lights on the Lawn on Sept. 26. The annual student-run benefit concert is held to raise money for the Mary Parrish Center, a non-profit organization supporting survivors of domestic and sexual abuse.
Concerts
Indie-rock band She’s Green performed at The Basement East on Sept. 22. They appeared to impress the crowd with their dreamy vocals, powerful bass and exciting drums. The small size of the venue allowed fans to have a closer experience with the artists throughout the performance.
Sombr drew a large crowd to Nashville Municipal Auditorium on Sept. 24. He looked like he moved the audience with his intense displays of emotion in an attempt to relate to them. The original venue was changed prior to the concert to accommodate additional demand for tickets, highlighting Sombr’s recent rise in popularity.
Conan Gray lit up the stage at Ascend Amphitheatre on Sept. 24 with soaring vocals and raw emotion, pulling the crowd into every lyric. Fans sang, cheered and swayed along, making the night feel like a shared anthem. He also integrated props such as a windmill throughout his show.
Vanderbilt Football
Then-No. 18 Vanderbilt Football took down Utah State, 55-35, on Sept. 27. The Commodores and Aggies went back and forth for the first half of the game, but Vanderbilt secured the lead by the end of the second quarter. After their win, Vanderbilt Football’s record improved to 5-0, resulting in the program’s best season start since 2008.
