John Blang steps down as IFC President

Blang cited time concerns as his primary reason for stepping down from the position.

John Blang, Interfraternity Council (IFC) president and member of Vanderbilt’s Beta Pi chapter of Alpha Tau Omega (ATO) fraternity, announced that he has officially resigned from his position as president.

Blang did not immediately respond to request for comment on his membership in ATO, though he is still listed as an active member on AnchorLink

I have made the difficult decision to step down as IFC president,” Blang said in an email to The Hustler. “I do not have the necessary time to devote myself fully to this position and have decided I need to concentrate my attention more on academics.”

Director of Greek Life Kristin Torrey said in an email to The Hustler that Blang’s position will not be filled until Fall 2021.

“Given the limited time left in the semester, the members of the IFC Executive Board will work in collaboration with each other alongside the chapter presidents to lead our community,” Torrey said. “An election process will take place as we begin the fall semester.”

She commended Blang on his work this past semester.

“We appreciate John’s leadership and the work he has done to make a positive impact in our community,” Torrey said.
