Vanderbilt’s athletic programs wrapped up their non-conference play as the rest of campus settled into the semester. The Commodores opened the season with a strong performance and are seeking to steady their momentum in the following weeks of SEC play.
Football
As the SEC moves into its conference schedule, Vanderbilt Football is 2-2, and No. 13 in The Hustler’s power rankings. After outlasting Virginia Tech 34-27 and sweeping Alcorn State 55-0, Vanderbilt fell short to Georgia State 36-32 and Missouri 30-27. The Commodores will look for their first SEC win this coming weekend when they host No. 4 Alabama.

Soccer
Vanderbilt Soccer survived a seven-game homestand unscathed before transitioning to conference play. The Commodores cruised through nonconference play, with wins over Belmont (5-0), St. Mary (4-1), Columbia (3-0), Middle Tennessee (3-0) and Eastern Kentucky (7-0) and draws with Georgetown and Kansas. However, the Commodores went cold in conference play, falling 1-0 to Georgia and 2-0 to Arkansas so far. Vanderbilt seeks to regain its momentum in the upcoming games.
