Missouri transfer T.O. Barrett has signed with Vanderbilt in the NCAA Transfer Portal, per On3’s Joe Tipton. The guard played two years for the Tigers under head coach Dennis Gates and will now make the move to Nashville and become a Commodore.
Barrett is the second guard signed by Vanderbilt head coach Mark Byington in the transfer portal, joining Washington State transfer Ace Glass in the new Black and Gold backcourt. He is Vanderbilt’s fifth-overall transfer. Barrett started 14 of 33 games in his 2025-26 sophomore campaign and averaged 8.6 points per game on 46% shooting. A familiar foe to Vanderbilt, Barrett scored 16 points in the Tigers’ matchup against the ‘Dores on Feb. 18.
Barrett is known as a more physical guard, scoring 74.5% of his points in the painted area. He is a solid facilitator and rebounder as well, averaging 3 assists and 2.7 boards per game. In this way, he will greatly complement the bucket-getting Glass. He excels at perimeter defense, as he grabbed 1.2 steals a night this past year — a trait that will likely flourish under Byington’s guidance, as guards Tyler Tanner and Duke Miles made up the best stealing backcourt in the nation this past year.
This addition marks continued momentum for Byington in the portal, as Nashville looks to be a prime destination for college basketball talent. The addition of another guard, though, conflicts with the pending decision star ball-handler Tanner has to make regarding the upcoming NBA Draft. Whether Tanner returns or not, Barrett will have the opportunity to be a very important contributor to the team.
