Tyrin Lawrence announced on Thursday afternoon via Twitter that he will be returning to Vanderbilt for his fourth season.
After an outstanding junior season that featured scoring a game-winning buzzer-beater against No. 6 Tennessee and having 24 games scoring 10+ points, Lawrence announced that he would be entering the transfer portal. He ultimately decided to return to Vanderbilt, completing the 2023-24 Commodore roster.
Lawrence brings back a strong presence to Vanderbilt’s backcourt. As a junior, the Georgia native averaged 13.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 29 minutes per game. The 6’4’’ guard has scored 620 points in his 77 games played for Vanderbilt. Lawrence is on track to become Vanderbilt’s 52nd 1,000-point scorer in the 2023-24 season if he records similar statistics to last year. Lawrence joins Ezra Manjon, Colin Smith, Lee Dort and Paul Lewis as returning players from the 2022-23 season.
