Recruiting: Vanderbilt lands commitment from Lehigh transfer Evan Taylor

Taylor was a four-year starter at Lehigh, earning second team All-Patriot League honors last season.

Vanderbilt Men’s Basketball landed their first commitment of transfer portal season on Wednesday, earning a pledge from Lehigh transfer Evan Taylor. The 6’6 forward was a four-year starter for Lehigh and averaged 14.2 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists while shooting 43% from deep as a senior in 2022-23. Across four seasons, Taylor played in 105 games and earned second team All-Patriot League honors this past year.

According to Joe Tipton, Taylor had interest from Wisconsin, Georgia, Virginia Tech, Depaul and many more after entering the portal. Taylor has one season of eligibility remaining. The Glen Ellyn, Illinois native took a visit to Vanderbilt’s campus this past weekend, a source told the Hustler.

Vanderbilt’s 2023-24 roster is beginning to take shape after Taylor’s commitment and high school recruit Jason Rivera-Torres’ commitment last Friday. The Commodores now have three scholarship openings remaining for the 2023-24 roster. Class of 2023 recruit Malik Presley is set to announce his college destination on Friday and holds a crystal ball to Vanderbilt from 247Sports.
