Vanderbilt canceled all in-person classes Monday, Jan. 26, and the chancellor declared an Administrative Day due to inclement weather. Employees designated as critical operations staff are expected to report to work, but all other staff have the day off.
Students living in Village at Vanderbilt and Blakemore House reported power outages starting around 5:00 a.m. CST this morning. Power has not yet been restored, and more than 188,000 Nashville Electric Service residents are also without power.
Across campus, fallen trees and limbs are blocking paths. Facilities staff members are working to remove snow from and apply salt to walkways, but a university email encouraged students to exercise caution when going outside.
An update about whether the university will reopen on Tuesday will be shared no later than 4 p.m. CST tomorrow.
This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
