After Vanderbilt Football’s defeat of the then-No.10 ranked LSU Tigers, ESPN’s College Gameday announced it would be coming to Nashville for the now-No.10 ranked Commodores’ matchup against No. 15 Missouri. The show and its accompanying festivities will be on Wyatt lawn this Saturday.
The only previous time College GameDay came to Vanderbilt was a matchup against Auburn on October 4, 2008, where it was held on the lawn in front of the Commons Center. The Commodores were featured on the show earlier this season when they played at Alabama.
The show’s set will take over Wyatt lawn with multiple stages, grandstands and a miniature football field. The show itself will consist of football analysis, including picks for the week’s top college football games, with a celebrity guest picker who is to be announced. Most notably, the show will feature Pat McAfee’s field goal kicking contest, where one student will be chosen from the crowd for the chance to earn a significant cash prize if they can make a 33-yard kick.
Vanderbilt students are expected to camp out for the show the night before, make signs about their Commodores, and bring the energy for the show.
The cast of College GameDay will include McAfee, Desmond Howard, Rece Davis, Kirk Herbstreit and Nick Saban. The show will run on Wyatt lawn from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. CDT ahead of Vanderbilt and Missouri’s 2:30 p.m. kickoff.
