PHOTOS OF THE WEEK: Fighting through another week on campus

Students were busy as ever this week with the news cycle but found time to take breaths and listen to music.

The Vanderbilt campus and the city of Nashville had a week full of news. The student body grieved alongside the Nashville community for the six innocent lives lost in the Covenant School shooting, while VSG elections and spring sports got underway.

VSG election week

VSG presidential candidates and write-ins campaigned this week, with the election going into a run-off. All three of the constitutional amendments passed in the regular election. After a boxing match was held between the tickets on the run-off ballot to raise money for The Covenant School, juniors Sam Sliman and Kendelle Grubbs won the election by 34 votes.

Sports

This weekend featured another big series win for the VandyBoys as they swept their series against Georgia. Sunday’s series closer marks their ninth win in the SEC this year, a program record. They also beat Lipscomb on March 28 in a game where all ticket sales were donated to the Covenant Fund. Women’s tennis beat Alabama on March 31 for an SEC win but then lost at home on April 2 to Auburn.

Editor’s picks

To unwind after a big week, staffers attended many concerts around Nashville. Matt Bennett brought childhood nostalgia to our week, and Almost Monday dazzled at 3rd and Lindsley. Joshua Bassett stole the hearts of his fans at Marathon Music Works, where Bryce Vine brought pure energy earlier in the week. To close out the weekend, students celebrated Holi on Alumni Lawn.
