Vanderbilt men’s basketball will not be playing in the Legends Classic this week in Connecticut due to a positive COVID-19 test within the program, according to a spokesman for the athletic department.
The team was scheduled to play UConn and either BYU or USC in the tournament.
It’s unclear when Vanderbilt can resume playing as it is currently in a pause on all activities. The team’s next scheduled game is Dec. 8 against SMU in Dallas. The Commodores are 1-0 on the season after beating Valparaiso at home on Nov. 27.
Statement from Vanderbilt Athletics:
Due to a positive COVID-19 test within the program, Vanderbilt announced Monday it has temporarily paused all men’s basketball activities.
The action is consistent with Southeastern Conference COVID-19 management requirements developed by the SEC’s Return to Activity and Medical Guidance Task Force, as well as guidance from local and University health officials.
Vanderbilt will not participate in this week’s Legends Classic in Uncasville, Connecticut.
