PLAYLIST: Taking a look at the VandyBoys’ walk-up music

We know the Commodores can get it done on the field, but is their music taste is strong as their play?

A baseball player’s walk-up song is a unique and special way for players to both express themselves and their own taste in music while simultaneously getting themselves in the right mindset for their next at-bat. A lot of thought goes into picking the perfect walk-up song.

Those who have been to Hawkins Field this season know that the VandyBoys have a wide range of entrance music. From Dion’s 1961 hit “Runaround Sue” to Roddy Ricch’s 2019 chart-topping song “The Box,” the Commodores have their bases covered. Here is a playlist of the VandyBoys’ 2020 walk-up songs:

Max Schneider, Former Sports Editor

Max Schneider (’20) was the Sports Editor for the Vanderbilt Hustler. He has been on staff since the first semester of his freshman year, first as a staff writer and shortly thereafter as the Deputy Sports Editor. Max also serves as the host of VU Sports Wired on Vanderbilt Television and The Hustler Sports 30 on VandyRadio.

He majored in communications studies and political science in the College of Arts and Science. Max has had bylines on NHL.com and has previously worked for The Nashville Predators, The Players’ Tribune and Nashville SC. He has attended several events as credentialed media, including the 2019 College Baseball World Series, the 2019 NBA Draft and the 2018 Texas Bowl.

Max is a native New Yorker and a die-hard Jets fan still holding out hope.

Mattigan Kelly, Former Deputy Multimedia Director
Mattigan Kelly ('22) was Deputy Multimedia Director for The Vanderbilt Hustler. She has been on the staff since her freshman year. Mattigan majored in chemical engineering in the School for Engineering. In addition to shooting for The Hustler, she was the Development Coordinator for Camp Kesem at Vanderbilt, works in a research lab on campus and plays Club Tennis.
