Eastern Kentucky transfer George Kimble III has committed to the Vanderbilt Commodores, per Joe Tipton of On3 Sports.
The sophomore guard was one of the highest-rated remaining players in the portal and will arrive with two years of eligibility. Kimble III started his career in Division II at Eckerd College, where he averaged 19.4 points per game, 4.6 assists per game and 1.8 steals per game.
During his sophomore season at Eastern Kentucky, Kimble III started in 25 games before suffering a season-ending injury. However, he posted up fantastic numbers, averaging 18.0 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.6 steals per game. This was enough to earn him Second Team All-Atlantic Sun Conference honors, alongside being twice named the ASUN Newcomer of the Week.
Although Kimble III will sit out and redshirt the 2025-26 season as he rehabs from a knee injury, he will be a piece worth developing and can slot in at either guard position for head coach Mark Byington. Kimble III is an up-tempo, off-the-bounce scorer who can make an impact at all three levels and can be useful both on and off the ball. While there is room for improvement in terms of efficiency and development into a complete defender, Kimble III will be a player with high offensive upside come the 2026-27 season.
Kimble III’s commitment marks the eighth transfer addition for Byington and is the sixth four-star ranked player in the Commodores’ transfer class according to 247Sports.
