Jason Edwards committed to the Vanderbilt Commodores on Sunday morning. Edwards, a sophomore guard from the University of Texas, was the fifth transfer to commit to Vanderbilt this offseason.
Edwards scored 19.1 points per game, shot 42.6% and was 35% from beyond the arc in his sophomore campaign. In his sophomore season, Edwards made 13 3-pointers that were longer than 25 feet from the basket and scored in transition 15% of the time. Edwards’ season was highlighted by a 37-point performance against Tulane. The Georgia native was tabbed with an All-AAC First Team honoring at the end of the 2023-24 season.
Before playing for North Texas, Edwards spent his first collegiate year at Dodge City Community College. Edwards made 27 starts for Dodge City and had four game with at least 30 points.
Edwards will look to be the engineer of Vanderbilt’s backcourt after the team lost both Ezra Manjon and Tyrin Lawrence this offseason. Edwards will look to help the Commodores, behind the leadership of Mark Byington, make it back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since the 2016-17 season.
