Vanderbilt shooting guard Tyrin Lawrence was seen in a walking boot on his right foot on Tuesday morning, raising questions about his availability for the team’s season opener tonight.
Vanderbilt men’s basketball sports information director, Jacob Bell, did not immediately respond to The Hustler’s request for comment on Lawrence’s availability for Tuesday night.
It is unknown when Lawrence last practiced. The Commodores will begin their 2023-24 campaign on Tuesday night with a matchup against Presbyterian at 7 p.m. CST at Memorial Gymnasium.
Lawrence, who was slated to be the star of the Vanderbilt basketball program, may be inactive by the time of tipoff. Lawrence averaged 13.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 29 minutes per game last season. The 6’4’’ guard has scored 620 points in his 77 games played for Vanderbilt and was selected to the preseason All-SEC second team one week ago.
