What: An evening with Kate Fagan: The pressure to be perfect

Why: Listen to Kate Fagan, a sports writer for espnW, ESPN.com and ESPN The Magazine, discuss the pressure to be perfect as both college students and athletes. Fagan wrote What Made Maddy Run after being touched by the story of the 19-year-old Penn State track star, Maddy Holleran, who committed suicide in 2014. The book explores both Fagan’s depression, anxiety and discontentment while she was an athlete at University of Colorado and Maddy’s struggle with mental health issues and perfectionism.

What: Know your rights: A crash course on how to protect your rights when you’re Marching for Our Lives

Why: Get a crash course on how to protect your rights while Marching for Our Lives and Community Impact GME during an info session facilitated by the Legal Director of American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Tennessee.

What: National Symphony Orchestra ‘Violins of Hope’
When: Thursday, March 22 at 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. or Friday, March 23 at 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Where: Schermerhorn Symphony Center
Why: The Violins of Hope is a collection of over two dozen instruments was played by Jewish musicians in concentration camps and throughout World War II. The Nashville Symphony will perform on these historical violins for a concert featuring John Williams’ Three Pieces from Schindler’s List, Schumann’s Piano Concerto, Jonathan Leshnoff’s Symphony No. 4 “Heichalos” and Barber’s Adagio for Strings. Tickets for the rear orchestra section start at $46 and are available for purchase here.
