Galentine’s Day Guide

Galentine%E2%80%99s+Day+Guide

Whether you’re dreading the stream of corny couple photos flooding your Instagram feed or you’re forced to tell your grandparents that you still aren’t dating your freshman year boyfriend for the eighth time, Valentine’s Day can evoke feelings of angst, annoyance and aggravation.

The answer? Debatably chocolate. But also a day of all things indulgent: Galentine’s Day. The celebration officially falls on Feb. 13 according to Parks & Recreation’s Leslie Knope, but who’s to say that a holiday recognizing friendship and girl power can’t be a 48 hour ordeal? Check out what all the single ladies will be doing around Nashville on Feb. 14 and take part in the festivities.

Loveless Café
If the ironic, perhaps too-close-to-home name doesn’t draw you in, the all-day breakfast and softest biscuits in Music City are reason enough to head to this Nashville staple. Indulge yourself with Nutella Hot Chocolate, Cinnamon Raisin French Toast and, of course, the classic biscuits. You’ll surely leave feeling better (and fuller) than when you arrived.

Fifty Shades Freed at Regal Green Hills
Right when you swore that you were done after walking out of the theater post-Fifty Shades Darker, the third film adaptation of E.L. James’ erotic romance novels, Fifty Shades Freed, hits the big screen. The film promises the same predictable twists and turns as the first two movies along with the same hard to watch acting by Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan. However, Fifty Shades Freed is “the final chapter,” so I suppose that we all have somewhat of an obligation to see it—despite our better judgment.

Stupid Cupid Emo Dance Party at The Basement:
Maybe you’re looking to relive the highlights of middle school Valentine’s Days celebrated with Panic! at the Disco and excessive amounts of eyeliner. Maybe you just don’t want to go to the usual singles mixer. Either way, dancing to the best NITR and Emo Night Nashville have to offer at The Basement fits the bill. Tickets are $5 at the door for singles, so whip out the Dr. Martens and get ready for a Valentine’s party like no other.

Netflix and Chill
Break out the popcorn, face masks and Hershey kisses for a well-deserved night in with friends and some of your favorite flicks. If you’re having trouble deciding what to watch, here are our top five Netflix picks to make you laugh, cheer and feel inspired: Wedding Crashers, Magic Mike, Love Actually, Bridget Jones’s Diary and Can’t Buy Me Love.

Be Myzica at Acme Feed & Seed
For the hopeless romantics, the heartless and everyone in between, there is one surefire way to cure the Feb. 14 blues: a rooftop dance party. Surround yourself with folks that are likely to think the Hallmark Holiday is just as bogus as you do at the Acme Feed & Seed rooftop listening to alt-indie group Myzica. The entire event is free, so there is no excuse not to be there.

Chick-fil-A heart shaped chicken minis
If you’re wondering what real romance looks like, it’s 30 Chick-fil-A nuggets or 10 chicken minis in a heart-shaped container. The best part? Sharing is optional, and a heart-shaped container filled with six Chocolate Chunk Cookies is available to top off the feasting extravaganza. Snag the delicious treats at the nearest Chick-fil-A on Feb. 14.
