No. 21 Vanderbilt Women’s Golf had a strong finish to its regular season at the one-day, 36-hole Tennessee Spring Challenge at Fox Den Country Club in Knoxville, Tennessee, hosted by the University of Tennessee. Facing a competitive field with 15 nationally ranked teams, the Commodores secured second place, finishing just behind the winner, Western Kentucky. Vanderbilt’s lineup for this event featured Tillie Claggett, Angelina Tolentino, Charlene Chung, Claire Henson and Sara Im, with Macie Brown competing as an individual player.
Vanderbilt began its first round with Claggett shooting 3-over, but she made a strong comeback in the second round with a 2-under, tying for sixth place. Tolentino tied for second place individually, shooting a 4-under par in the first round and finishing at 1-over par. She made seven birdies throughout the day, demonstrating strong accuracy. Meanwhile, Im totaled a score of 5-over-77 across the 36 holes, starting with an even-par 72 through the first 18 before ending with a 77.
Henson completed both rounds with a 9-over total, producing a 77 in the first round and a 76 in the second. Chung had a rough start with an 11-over first round but recovered and ended the day going just 5-over. Brown, the only individual player, had relatively consistent rounds, shooting 8-over 80 in the first round and 7-over 79 in the second.
Tolentino finished the event in second place individually, shooting 4-under par, the best score on the team.
Vanderbilt will next compete in the SEC Championships from April 14-18 at the Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida.
