Maude Latour brought the audience at The Basement East back in time to the neon and glitter-drenched 2010s on March 25. Decked out in an oversized football jersey in front of a middle-school dance set-design, fans were taken back in time for an evening likely reflective of Latour’s teen years. As always, Latour offered a high-energy dance party for the entire venue to let loose. Whether the song was draped in colors of love, breakup or longing, Latour still gave it her all.
Maude Latour blew up on TikTok around 2020 and has continued to grow ever since. After the COVID-19 pandemic canceled her first tour, she pivoted and instantly found a community on the platform that loved her music for its agreeable lyrics and themes. Nashville was the fifth to last stop on Latour’s first headlining tour, “The Sugar Water Tour,” which spans many US cities over a month and wraps up at Regent Theatre in Los Angeles on April 2, 2025.
As Latour brought out a water gun and began spraying the crowd during the song “Sugar Water,” the audience roared as an epic show was just getting started. Latour showed no reservations, kicking off her set with a handful of the new songs off her debut album, “Sugar Water.” She entered the stage as the crowd roared, demonstrating just an ounce of the love that the rich Nashville music scene has for Latour. Songs “Officially Mine” and “Summer of Love” had the whole audience singing along.
Later in her set, Latour gave the audience some of her classics, playing “Walk Backwards,” “Cyclone” and “Superfruit,” three of her most iconic and popular songs — each of which helped launch her music career and TikTok stardom. Many members of the audience belted out each song line for line. “Superfruit,” another one of Maude’s older songs, discusses the feeling of perpetual loneliness in the summer despite its upbeat dance beat, something many young adults might relate to at one time in their lives. Latour took it upon herself to make sure no one got too deep into their feelings, jumping into the pit and dancing with the audience like close friends at a house party during “One More Weekend.” Still, throughout the show, she was never afraid to be vulnerable and talk about what moments in her life inspired her to write her songs, creating a deeper level of intimacy in the evening.
Latour then switched up the vibe of her set, draping herself under a full-body veil. This atmospheric shift leaned into the psychedelic nature of her tracks “7 (interlude)” and “I am not the sun.” Exploring themes of emotional grief and loss, her lyrics examine the art of being okay with not really being okay. Between “Save Me” and “Heaven” during the set, she explained that “Sugar Water” represents the cycles of love and grief. Latour spoke the honest truth that when you lose a loved one you can’t help but see them in everything.
Latour reflected on her album between these songs. “Sugar Water” is a deeply personal and emotional record exploring Latour’s relationship with love, heartbreak, self-discovery, and the meaning of life as a 20-something-year-old. As a mezzo-soprano, her voice blends ever so uniquely into the genre of electric pop, carving out her unmistakable sound.
Between these slower, more intimate songs, Latour enjoyed playing matchmaker for the night, encouraging all of her single fans to exchange numbers with others if they were interested. Following the same themes Latour frequently sings about, she wanted all of her fans to connect and find love.
“Life is too short, and, statistically speaking, you can meet the love of your life here,” Latour said.
To round out her electric headlining show, Latour played one of her classics — “Furniture” — as the crowd energetically moshed to the beat. Throughout Latour’s career, she has blossomed into an icon for many looking to explore and find security in their identity. In Latour’s lyrics and electric-pop sound, fans are likely to find pockets of solace and comfort, a place to feel a little less lonely in this world we live in and share joy along the way.

This show sounds like pure magic! Maude Latour really knows how to mix fun, emotion, and connection. Loved how the night was full of energy, honesty, and a little matchmaking too. Wish I could’ve been there dancing and singing along with everyone!
