Vanderbilt Athletics updated its student-ticketing policy via email at 4:47 p.m. CST on Nov. 5. This change, ahead of No. 24 Vanderbilt Football’s clash with South Carolina on Nov. 9, allows for more students to become eligible for the early ticket-claiming window than before the Texas game.
The news comes after the university sent an email on Nov. 1 to all students, informing them that the “all-in-1” student tickets in their mobile wallet would be removed for Vanderbilt’s remaining two home games.
“Thank you for your continued support of Vanderbilt Athletics. As previously shared, you make a huge difference at games, and we love seeing as much black and gold in the stands as possible,” the email reads. “With two home games left in the regular season and the anticipation of once again exceeding the student section seating capacity at FirstBank Stadium, we are continuing to hold unsold tickets to be used as overflow seating for students.”
Students must claim a new ticket specifically for the game against South Carolina, which mirrors the updated ticket policy for the Texas game. An early access period will open on Nov. 6 at 3 p.m. CST for students who have scanned into “more than one game” using their student tickets.
Students who have attended more than one home game received an email indicating that they will have access to the priority claim window. Students who have yet to attend more than one game at FirstBank Stadium were informed in the email that they will not have access to the early window.
Tickets in the early claim period will not be guaranteed, unlike the Commodores’ game against Texas, where all students with priority were guaranteed tickets. The limited number of tickets made available during the early window ensures students who have attended less than two games will still have an opportunity to attend this weekend’s game.
The claiming process will be made available to all graduate and undergraduate students at 12:30 p.m. CST on Nov. 7, regardless of the number of games they have attended.
Vanderbilt Football head coach Clark Lea expressed his excitement for the game this weekend and Commodore Nation’s expected turnout in his press conference today.
“We look forward to the chance to compete against a really good team this weekend in front of a home crowd that seems like it’s going to be a great environment,” Lea said.
Claiming a student ticket does not guarantee entry into the student section. Similar to all home games after Week One, the University will hold “several hundred” tickets for students in other sections of the stadium and the north end zone “standing room only” once Sections P and Q fill up.
The email specified that students in sections P and Q will receive wristbands that will allow them to enter and exit the student section throughout the game. However, these wristbands will not permit entry in and out of the stadium.
Students will be given overflow tickets and directed to the previously reserved seats and the standing-room-only section once wristbands are fully distributed and Sections P and Q reach full capacity.
Specific stadium entry details have not yet been provided, and the athletics department will communicate this information to all students who claim tickets on Friday, prior to Saturday’s game.
Vanderbilt Athletics also noted that the details regarding the claim process for Vanderbilt Football’s matchup against Tennessee will be communicated after this weekend’s game.
“Details regarding the claim process for Tennessee will be communicated next week,” the email read. “We will complete the claim process before Friday, Nov. 15, so that students may file a housing request via the housing portal for residence hall access over the holiday break.”
Vanderbilt will welcome South Carolina into FirstBank Stadium at 3:15 p.m. CST on Saturday, Nov. 9, as it seeks its first seven-win season since 2013.
