On Saturday evening, ESPN confirmed that Tim Beck will be the next offensive coordinator for the Vanderbilt Commodores. Beck will leave New Mexico State, where he was the offensive coordinator in 2022.
Before coordinating the offense at New Mexico State, Beck served as an offensive analyst at TCU for a year (2021) and was head coach for the Pittsburg State Gorillas for ten seasons (2010-19).
Beck will fill in for Joey Lynch, who was fired after the 2023 season. The Vanderbilt offense has suffered several losses via the transfer portal this offseason, such as the departures of star wideouts Will Sheppard and London Humphreys. The Commodores’ three quarterbacks who saw game action in 2023 were AJ Swann, Ken Seals and Walter Taylor. The trio of quarterbacks have all entered the transfer portal as well.
Beck will assume a Vanderbilt offense that ranked last in the SEC in total offense with 318.92 total yards and ranked 110th in FBS with 22.8 points per game in 2023.
