On Wednesday night, Vanderbilt Football released its full 2024 schedule in conjunction with the rest of the SEC. The schedule features several changes to the prior format as a result of the SEC’s upcoming additions of Texas and Oklahoma in 2024.
Notably, the conference has scrapped the two divisions, only protecting certain rivalries. Instead of the two division champions meeting in the SEC Championship Game, the two teams with the best conference record will meet for the title. The number of conference games each team will play remains at eight despite speculation it would be increased to nine.
Vanderbilt’s opener will come on Aug. 31 against Virginia Tech, and its first SEC contest will be Sept. 21 at Missouri. The Commodores will host four SEC opponents: Alabama, Texas, South Carolina and Tennessee. The Tennessee matchup will be the last game of the season as is tradition. The full schedule is as follows:
8/31 vs. Virginia Tech
9/7 vs. Alcorn State
9/14 at Georgia State
9/21 vs. Missouri
10/5 vs. Alabama
10/12 at Kentucky
10/19 vs. Ball State
10/26 vs. Texas
11/2 at Auburn
11/9 vs. South Carolina
11/23 at LSU
11/30 vs. Tennessee
