How does Amazon know that you’ve been needing a new planner? Why does Netflix recommend shows about the British monarchy after you only watched one episode of The Crown? In this episode, hosts Vienna Parnell and Soha Bhutta explain what recommender algorithms are, how they work and how they’ve recently put some companies into hot water.
Soha Bhutta (‘26) is majoring in computer science in the College of Engineering. She is originally from Miami, Florida and is currently co-hosting a podcast called Hot Girl Tech through the Hustler.
