Let’s face it: we’ve all been spending a little bit too much time sitting at our desks lately. When I’m through with my online classes, I have found that coffee shops are the perfect way for me to get out of my apartment and escape the regular Zoom grind. This week, I decided to check out Anzie Blue, a colorful coffee shop in Belle Meade.
When I first got to this café, I was a little confused. The outside resembles a brown, old office building. But once I got inside, I quickly realized that this coffee shop is quite the hidden gem. With adorable blue décor and neon signs, Anzie Blue will meet all your wildest coffee shop aesthetic dreams. The inside is clean and modern, not your typical warm and cozy coffee shop vibes. Also, they offer plenty of outdoor seating, which is perfect for safely social distancing during the pandemic.
When I visited, I got a cold brew and a croissant. The cold brew had a very strong and bitter flavor, but the croissant was good (nothing groundbreaking). Both the coffee and my snack were mediocre, so I would recommend coming here if you care more about aesthetics and less about the quality of your food. But to be fair, I barely scraped the surface of what it offered on Anzie Blue’s menu. Patrons can order everything from coffee and pastries to smoothies, charcuterie and cocktails. With so many different options, this getaway could serve as both a locale for studying on a Wednesday or a Friday dinner out with friends.
Anzie Blue offers yet another twist that makes them anything but another basic coffee shop. In addition to their impressively large menu, they sell trendy Cannabidiol (CBD) supplements. You can buy CBD oil at Anzie Blue, or add it to your coffee for an extra two dollars. Being the first coffee shop in Nashville to also sell CBD, Anzie Blue made a buzz when they first opened up.
But if supplements aren’t your thing, never fear. Anzie Blue offers a great study space to change up your routine in a manner that is COVID compliant and quell your wanderlust. While I probably won’t try another round of that cold brew, there’s countless fall menu items left that I’m eager to explore (that Maple Ginger Spiced Latté? It’s calling my name). Next time you feel like making the hike to Belle Meade, just know there’s a trendy café on standby for your inevitable caffeine craving. Drop by Sept. 29 and celebrate National Coffee Day with a free cup of joe alongside a food or CBD purchase.
