What: Opioids: A 21st Century Public Health Crisis

Former Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services Assistant Commissioner, Stephen Loyd, M.D., will discuss opioids in Tennessee and what public health officials are doing to combat the epidemic.

Why: Global China Connection at Vanderbilt hosts the Vanderbilt China Forum as an opportunity for the Vanderbilt to learn about Chinese culture, politics and technology. There will be young professionals, scholars and experts to facilitate meaningful discussion with students.

Why: InVUsion, the MLC’s signature event, is a multicultural festival that highlights the missions, cultures and performances of MLC organizations. At InVUsion, there will be free food from over 20 ethnic restaurants and performances from the Diwali Showcase, Harambe, the Lunar New Year Festival and Café con Leche. There will also be prize giveaways and interactive booths hosted by MLC member organizations to foster a deeper understanding and awareness of different cultures.

Why: Vanderbilt Off-Broadway presents its 2018 Second Show, Little Shop of Horrors. When Seymour, an average Joe who works at a flower shop in downtown Manhattan, discovers a mysterious new plant species, his life is forever changed.

What: VUPointe Ballet Theatre’s Spring Showcase 2018

Why: Nashville VegFest, a celebration of thoughtful eating and sustainable living, is at the Fairgrounds Nashville.
