The Men’s Club Ultimate Frisbee team, Armada, hosted its annual fall tournament, Itchiest, this past weekend.
“Itchfest is a tournament early in the season in which we focus on giving rookies a lot of playing time and building overall team chemistry,” said senior co-captain Ben Godwin. Nine teams traveled to Nashville to compete this weekend in the 2-day bracket tournament, including MTSU, Rhodes, Belmont, Samford, Berry and UAH.
Armada had a good showing for its home tournament, boasting the numbers to be split into two teams for the weekend. Armada’s X and Y teams were each headed by one of the senior co-captains, Ben Godwin and Justin Badgett, who played against each other for the final game of the tournament on Sunday.
“The freshmen showed a lot of promise,” Badgett said, emphasizing the focus of rookie development going into Itchfest. In all, Vanderbilt went 5-7 for the weekend and the captains were proud of a successfully run and enthusiastically played home tournament.
