For undergraduates, the final day of mandatory asymptomatic surveillance testing will be Nov. 10, per an Oct. 19 email from the university.
The university will offer optional testing from Nov. 16 to Nov. 18 for students who sign up. This will be the final testing period before the end of in-person classes on Nov. 20. Information on how to sign up will be sent at a later date, the email said.
Residential students who receive positive test results during their exit or optional tests will have the option to stay in on-campus housing until their “completion date” or leave on-campus housing and drive home, according to the email.
Students who are living off-campus were told to follow health guidance and abide by their quarantine and isolation completion dates if they test positive, per the email.
The university noted in the email that dates are subject to change, and students will be notified about any adjustments.
According to the email, spring semester testing protocols would be announced by Tuesday, Dec. 15.
“The university will continue to monitor the situation in Nashville and the surrounding areas and seek guidance from experts at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and the School of Nursing, and from local, state and federal health officials to determine whether to update current campus protocols,” the email said.
UPDATE: An email sent from the Vanderbilt University Command Center Testing Team to undergraduates at approximately 1:30 p.m. CST included more details about dates and times for mandatory exit testing.
The email stated that the Wellness and Recreation Center where testing currently takes place will be open from 8 a.m. through 8 p.m. CDT on Nov. 8, 9 and 10. Students who test on Wednesdays or Thursdays are asked to test on Nov. 8, while those who test on Monday or Friday are told to test on Nov. 9. Tuesday and Saturday testers are asked to take their mandatory exit test on Nov. 10.
“If for any reason you cannot make the test date assigned to you for your exit test, you must still take an exit test and should visit the test center on one of the other dates listed above,” the email reads. “We will be monitoring attendance and the exit testing is required.”
