oskar med k stopped by Nashville at Night We Met on his “Make Me Feel” tour. The venue was intimate and cozy, with no barricade stopping fans from dancing directly in front of the booth. Many there were simply at the club to have a fun night out, but a considerable amount of people were there to see oskar med k perform some of his hits. I first discovered oskar med k’s music when creating an EDM playlist on Spotify. “Spellbound” was recommended to me, and as soon as I listened to him, I fell in love with his music. As someone that has gotten into house music a lot more since coming to college, I was so excited to have the opportunity to see him in person. To me, his music is the perfect blend of calm vibes and strong rhythms, making it easy to dance to and enjoy.
Newhaven was the final opener before oskar med k took the stage. He jumped around, getting the crowd excited for the main set of the night. The energy from the crowd was building as 12:30 a.m. CDT neared, which is when oskar med k’s set was scheduled to begin.
Right before oskar med k came out, lights flashed, and the crowd started cheering. A disco ball in the center of the club reflected an assortment of lights as oskar med k finally stepped out. He opened the set with “i think i‘m addicted,” one of his biggest hits. The song comes from his newest album “feel.” Continuing on, he played others from the same album, including “Sweet Nothings” and “Release Me.”
Some of the highlights of the concert included three different variations of his biggest song, “Make Me Feel.” The first time he played the song was extremely similar to the version available on Spotify, but later, he added some variations. He originally played it in the middle of his set and near the end, but when he was about to end the set at 1:56 a.m. CDT, just a few minutes short of the expected 2 a.m. CDT end time, the crowd started chanting for an encore. oskar med k smiled and went back onto the stage to throw in a more techno styled version of “Make Me Feel,” turning the normally calm song into something with much more energy to bring his concert to a close. Throughout the concert, I was able to meet people as I ducked in and out of the crowd. One man told me that he was close friends with oskar med k himself, and he pointed out another man at the front that was supposedly oskar med k’s cousin. Sadly, I was never able to confirm this, but it did seem that oskar med k knew the two. Overall, the crowd was a mix of girls having a fun night out, couples looking to dance or people alone that were just there to have a good time.
The concert was a perfect blend of energetic moments and calm, intimate periods of music. It was enjoyable for both fans of his music and those just looking to enjoy a night out. Though he didn’t speak at all, oskar med k’s performance showed his artistry and emotion perfectly, making for an amazing night.
