Vanderbilt Track and Field competed at the 2026 SEC Indoor Track and Field Championships Feb. 26-28. The ’Dores’ trip to College Station, Texas, proved successful, with an overall win, seven personal records and three program records broken.

The Commodores excelled in the triple jump with four athletes making it to the finals. Junior Anaya Webster finished in 12th place and picked up a personal best of 12.7 meters. Not only did Webster exceed her previous personal best by 0.23 meters, but she also secured a spot in the record book with the fourth all-time height for the program. Sophomore Lena Gooden also had a personal best, finishing 14th while jumping for 12.39 meters. Sophomores Pryncess Jackson and Anya Carey finished 16th and 19th overall, respectively.
Gooden built on her momentum in the triple jump with an impressive eighth place performance in the long jump with a 6.2-meter jump. Webster was not far behind with a 6.07-meter jump, finishing 11th. In the high jump, three Commodores finished in the finals. Junior Rowan Houston’s 1.76-meter jump was a personal best and earned her 11th place. Sophomore Mackenzie Dagrosa and first-year Cali Bryant tied for 13th place with jumps of 1.71 meters each.
In the pentathlon high jump, freshman Janie Ford opened with a stellar performance for the weekend and a personal best of 1.74 meters, finishing in third. Senior Marta Sivina also finished strong with a season-best jump of 1.71 meters and a sixth-place finish.
In the shot put, senior Sarah Marvin, despite her improvement throughout the meet, came just short of qualifying for an additional throw. Marvin threw for 15.03 meters to finish eleventh-overall, just 0.02 meters behind the 10th-place finisher, which was the cutoff to qualify for additional throws.
Track
On the track side, the Commodores broke even more records. Ford made history, running a 2:14.16 to win the 800-meter pentathlon. This personal best made her the first-ever freshman to win this event. Sivina also dominated the race, finishing second with a personal best of 2:14.17.
Sophomore Lily Kriegel had an outstanding performance in the 3000-meter final. Kriegel paced with the lead group for most of the race, keeping stride with the most competitive runners in the SEC. She ran 9:05.28, finishing in eleventh-place and breaking her own program record by over a second for a breakout performance.
In the preliminary 800-meter, graduate Jayden Hill ran just short of qualifying for finals with a time of 2:08.53 and ended in thirteenth-place. Graduate Kelty Oaster was in a similar situation, finishing in seventeenth, and missing out on the final race.
The 4×400-meter relay team had a different lineup than usual, with Kenyah Conner, Ford, Franklin and Madyson Wilson on the track. In the preliminary race, the four Commodores won their section by a margin of almost four seconds. In the finals, the team finished seventh-overall with a time of 3:32.72, a pace that is the second–fastest in program history. The current record was set by Franklin, Ford, Josie Donelson and Falon Spearman at the Bob Pollock Invitational earlier this season.
Vanderbilt will be back in action in two weeks at the 2026 NCAA Indoor Championships, which are from March 13-14 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
