Koht will join head coach Clark Lea’s defensive unit with two years of eligibility remaining. The Florida native was a four-star prospect in the Class of 2021, per 247Sports. He was ranked inside 247Sports’ top-75 recruits nationally and was the fifth-best edge rusher in his class.
Koht entered the transfer portal last week after seeing sparse playing time over the last two seasons in Tuscaloosa. He played in seven games this season and recorded 5 total tackles and 0.5 sacks before later getting suspended for unknown reasons and missing the team’s final five games. In Vanderbilt’s win over Alabama, Koht recorded one tackle.
Koht was ranked as a three-star, the No. 80 overall player and the No. 9 EDGE in this year’s current transfer class. After entering the portal last week, he visited Ole Miss and Vanderbilt but ultimately chose the Commodores. Koht, coming in at 6’4″ and 242 lbs.,will provide some SEC size and athleticism to a group of Vanderbilt pass rushers that struggled to end the season. He represents the first of many expected transfer portal additions for Lea and Co. this offseason.
