Vanderbilt offensive tackle Gunnar Hansen will enter the transfer portal when it officially opens on Dec. 9, he announced via social media on Dec. 6. Hansen did not play during his first year of college in 2021 and, therefore, has one year of eligibility remaining.

Hansen started in 11 games for Vanderbilt as a sophomore in 2022, totaling 640 snaps at left tackle and left guard. He started all 12 of Vanderbilt’s games in 2023 at left tackle and logged 779 snaps.
The Florida native logged 12 more starts for the Commodores at tackle during the 2024 season. He was named the Week 6 SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week award for his contributions to Vanderbilt’s upset win over Alabama. He was also named the Outland Trophy Player of the Week and was added to the Outland Trophy Watch List, given each year to the nation’s top lineman.
Hansen’s transfer will leave Vanderbilt’s offensive line depth even more thin than originally expected, as starters Steven Hubbard, Steven Losoya and Xavier Castillo are all out of eligibility.
A 247Sports report indicated that Hansen prefers to transfer to Miami, though multiple SEC schools are expected to show interest in the three-year starter. The report also indicated that Hansen could move inside to offensive guard at his next school.
