Vanderbilt Cross Country traveled to Madison, Wisconsin, for the Wisconsin Pre-Nationals meet on Oct. 19, 2024. The Commodores’ women’s team finished third out of 29 teams in the six-kilometer B race, while the men’s squad came in 19th out of 25 teams in the eight-kilometer B race.
Over 200 runners competed in the women’s six-kilometer B race. Ellie Wolski led the charge for the women’s squad, finishing ninth overall with a personal-best time of 20 minutes and 45.8 seconds. Close behind her were Julia Rosenberg in 29th and freshman Claire Petersen in 37th. Rosenberg and Petersen clocked in at 21:08.3 and 21:26.0, respectively. Cameron Fawcett also finished inside the top 50 with a time of 21:30.1. Ella Lambert rounded out the women’s scorers with a 21:37.2 finish.
First-year Michael Skora once again led the men’s team, placing 36th with a time of 24:35.5. Next were sophomores Brady Blivens and Mitchel Drees with times of 25:26.1 and 25:36.8, respectively. Also finishing inside the top 150 were David Song (25:43.4), Zach Hodges (26:04.8), Jackson Scruggs (26:05.5) and Casey Bohrer (26:09.5). The men’s eight-kilometer B race included 188 runners.
The Wisconsin Pre-Nationals meet concludes the Commodores’ cross country regular season. Their next event will be the 2024 SEC Championships in College Station, Texas, on Nov. 1. Vanderbilt will then have a week off before the NCAA South Regionals in Tallahassee, Florida, on Nov. 15 — followed by the NCAA Championships a week later.
