Netflix: “Heartstopper” (Oct. 3)
After two stellar seasons and critical acclaim, the popular series returns for a third outing with beloved characters Nick (Kit Connor) and Charlie (Joe Locke). As their relationship continues, problems and fears emerge that come with the transition from adolescence to adulthood. Other members of their friend group evolve and mature as well. With a show featuring a cast of characters and actors who are members of the LGBTQ+ community, “Heartstopper” continues to break down barriers while still providing compelling and entertaining storylines.
Hulu: “Abbott Elementary” (Oct. 9)
The phenomenal TV series returns and continues to cover the misadventures of elementary school teacher Janine Teagues (Quinta Brunson) and her eclectic mix of work colleagues. After the exciting conclusion of the third season, the “will they or won’t they” trope with her coworker Gregory (Tyler James Williams) looks to be over. The world of Abbott Elementary is delightfully chaotic with surprises around every corner, including cameos from Kevin Hart and Bradley Cooper. The next season is sure to be just as funny as its previous editions.
Peacock: “Teacup” (Oct. 10)
Inspired by the novel “Stinger,” the horror series follows a diverse group of people in rural Georgia who are forced to unite against a terrifying threat. Produced by horror maestro James Wan and developed by “Yellowstone” writer Ian McCulloch, the series promises to be scary good. With a stellar cast featuring Yvonne Strahovski (“Dexter”) and Scott Speedman (“Felicity”), this will be an exciting show to watch just in time for Halloween.
Apple TV+: “Disclaimer” (Oct. 11)
Based on the novel of the same name by Renée Knight, the series focuses on a documentary journalist named Catherine Ravenscroft (Cate Blanchett) who receives a mysterious package containing a novel that reveals a secret she’s tried to bury for decades. Helmed by famed director Alfonso Cuarón, “Disclaimer” promises to be a compelling series with a tantalizing mystery that unfolds throughout the show.
