In this special Women’s History Month episode of VU History, host Jaylan Sims sits down with Marcia Biggs (B.A. 98), a special correspondent for the PBS Newshour. Reminiscing on how she started her career as a journalist and hoping to offer advice to aspiring correspondents, Biggs opens up to The Hustler about dealing with grief while reporting on conflict and the persistence needed to work for a national journalism company.
Watch Marcia’s recent report on gang violence in Haiti:
PBS Newshour– “Months of raging gang violence came to a head today in Haiti. The prime minister, currently stranded in Puerto Rico, announced he would resign as soon as a transitional government is in place. Meanwhile, the widespread violence has recently been made worse by an influx of powerful weapons, which special correspondent Marcia Biggs tells us are coming mostly from the U.S.” (All rights are due to the PBS Newshour and WETA studios).
Special thanks to Paige Clancy, Vanderbilt Student Communications’ Assistant Director of Student Media/Editorial, for making this episode of VU History possible.
