Vanderbilt’s fall semester will begin Aug. 24 with in-person classes scheduled to end before Thanksgiving, according to VandySports.com publisher Chris Lee. Lee said in a following tweet that his source was “someone at the faculty town hall.”
Further details regarding class sizes, schedules, social distancing measures and final examinations are not included in Lee’s tweets.
Vanderbilt posted a statement May 12 on their website that said they were “committed to planning for a 15-week academic calendar for all undergraduate degree programs and the Graduate School; however, [they were] considering several options regarding start dates, end dates and breaks across all of our schools/colleges.”
The 15-week semester for undergraduates would presumably mean a Aug. 24 start date and end date of Dec. 7, with in-person classes ending Nov. 20.
Vanderbilt’s website currently still has Aug. 26 as the official start date on their 2020-21 Academic Calender with undergraduate classes ending Dec. 10.
In a June 3 town hall, Incoming Chancellor Daniel Diermeier stated, “We decided we will discuss a detailed plan in about a week or so.”
Vanderbilt has not immediately responded to request for comment.
