The portion of 24th Ave. between Branscomb and Rand near its intersection with Vanderbilt Place will be closed for the remainder of the semester.

The street is closed to allow the installation of utilities that will eventually be used in Residential Colleges A, B, and C, Project Manager Bob Grummon said.

The three new residential college dorms are part of FutureVU, Vanderbilt’s ongoing land use planning initiative. The first new dorm, A, will open in 2020, and is currently under construction at the intersection of 25th Ave. and West End Ave. The other two dorms are scheduled to open in 2022 and 2023. The total residential initiative will cost about $600 million dollars.

Students can still use the sidewalk and the side entrance to Branscomb on 24th Ave. The street should be reopened at some point in December or January, Grummon said.
