What: An evening with Kate Fagan: The pressure to be perfect
When: Monday, March 19 at 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Where: SLC Board of Trust Room
Why: Listen to Kate Fagan, a sports writer for espnW, ESPN.com and ESPN The Magazine, discuss the pressure to be perfect as both college students and athletes. Fagan wrote What Made Maddy Run after being touched by the story of the 19-year-old Penn State track star, Maddy Holleran, who committed suicide in 2014. The book explores both Fagan’s depression, anxiety and discontentment while she was an athlete at University of Colorado and Maddy’s  struggle with mental health issues and perfectionism.

What: Know your rights: A crash course on how to protect your rights when you’re Marching for Our Lives
When: Tuesday, March 20 at 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. and Thursday, March 22 at 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.
Where: Vanderbilt University Law School
Why: Get a crash course on how to protect your rights while Marching for Our Lives and Community Impact GME during an info session facilitated by the Legal Director of American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Tennessee.

What: Wrestling with our past: Vanderbilt, race and the Confederate Legacy
When: Thursday, March 22 at 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Where: Langford Auditorium
Why: Attend a keynote address given by Thomas C. Holt, Ph.D. and James Westfall Thompson, Professor of American and African American History at University of Chicago, which will explore the legacies of evil and compare the Confederacy to Germany and France.

Why: Love Indian food? Join Kalyani and Venkataraman Amarnath as they share some of their favorite, easy-to-prepare dishes.

Why: Gain some perspective while spending a few hours under the stars.

What: National Symphony Orchestra ‘Violins of Hope’
When: Thursday, March 22 at 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. or Friday, March 23 at 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Where: Schermerhorn Symphony Center
Why: The Violins of Hope is a collection of over two dozen instruments was played by Jewish musicians in concentration camps and throughout World War II. The Nashville Symphony will perform on these historical violins for a concert featuring John Williams’ Three Pieces from Schindler’s List, Schumann’s Piano Concerto, Jonathan Leshnoff’s Symphony No. 4 “Heichalos” and Barber’s Adagio for Strings. Tickets for the rear orchestra section start at $46 and are available for purchase here.

What: Melodores spring concert: Meloroo 2018
When: Friday, March 23 at 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Where: Sarratt Cinema
Why: Go into the Melodores’ spring concert with your friends and leave with a bunch of acapella covers stuck in your head. Grab tickets for what’s sure to be a fun night in Sarratt or on Ticketmaster for $8.
