It might not have all of the glamorous matchups that Week 3 had, but Week 4 offers a number of entertaining contests all over the country. Here are the Hustler’s three games to watch for this weekend.
No. 19 Florida at No. 14 Tennessee:
This is a critical game in the battle to see who gets rocked by Alabama in Atlanta, or, as some call it, the SEC East. Tennessee, ranked ninth heading into the season, squeaked out an overtime win against Appalachian State, destroyed Virginia Tech, and then played a close game against Ohio University. Florida, on the other hand, has handled its business against a murderers’ row UMass, Kentucky and North Texas.
Are both of these teams good? Neither? No one knows. However, I do know that Tennessee’s defense is banged up, and its offense has been especially sloppy. I also know that Florida’s defense is stingy, but its offense will be without starting quarterback, Luke Del-Rio. Expect a tight, low-scoring game where field position and kickers may be the difference.
No. 11 Wisconsin at No. 8 Michigan State:
Fresh off of a hard-fought win against Notre Dame, MSU faces a Wisconsin team that had its hands full last week against the panthers of Georgia State (yikes). I’m not sure what to make of Wisconsin thus far. They vaulted into the top 10 after beating LSU in Week 1, but it appears LSU isn’t all that good. They will also be trotting out two quarterbacks in fifth-year senior Bart Houston and redshirt freshman Alex Hornibrook. To quote every football analyst on ESPN, “If you have two quarterbacks, you don’t have a quarterback.” Let alone that they could be down two running backs and two offensive lineman. Still, they have a very good defense and are first in the Big Ten in time of possession.
Moreover, the Spartans have no notable injuries and do have a solid starting quarterback, Tyler O’Connor. They are third in the Big Ten in time of possession but can and will take shots down the field. Their front seven is good and will look to take advantage Wisconsin’s banged up offensive line. If they do, it could be a long day for the Badgers, with two suspect quarterbacks. If Wisconsin’s line does hold up, this game could end up being pretty close.
No. 3 Louisville at Marshall:
There are better games that I could have put here, but those games do not have Lamar Jackson. If you have not seen this guy play football, I mandate that you do. Seriously, he might be the fastest man in college football, who happens to have the biggest arm and is deadly accurate. He’s accounted for 18 touchdowns in three games, and what he did last week to FSU was felonious (FSU was ranked No. 2 in the country). I don’t know anything about Marshall, but I do know that this will not be fun for them. However, this may be the most dominating performance of the year. Seriously, Jackson could run and throw for eight touchdowns in the first half. He’s that good. Get a good look folks, because since this is college football we know that nothing lasts.
