Vanderbilt basketball’s 2022 recruiting class got an impressive jolt on Wednesday night as four-star guard Noah Shelby and five-star forward Lee Dort committed to Jerry Stackhouse and the Commodores.

Shelby and Dort are currently juniors at the Greenhill School in Texas and announced their commitments together. Shelby’s father, Derrick Shelby, is Dort’s legal guardian and the high school teammates were expected to commit to the same school. They did just that on Wednesday via their Twitter pages.

Shelby, a 6’2” shooting guard, is ranked 122nd in the class of 2022, per 247Sports, and has been dubbed one of the better three point shooters in the class. The combo guard named a top-ten list of schools in February that featured Southeastern Conference (SEC) foes Mississippi State and Auburn and blue blood Kansas.

Dort is a raw, 6’9” forward who has flashed incredible athleticism en route to a top-20 ranking, per 247Sports. The explosive big man is a native of Haiti and despite moving to the United States less than three years ago, boasted at least 14 scholarship offers before committing to Vanderbilt. He is Stackhouse’s first five-star commitment and Vanderbilt’s first since Darius Garland and Simi Shittu in 2018.

Dort and Shelby join Presley Patterson, an in-state guard who committed to Vanderbilt in Dec. 2020, in Vanderbilt’s 2022 class.
