Educational

What: Will There Be A Law & Neuroscience Revolution? 

When: Tuesday, Jan. 14 at 6 p.m. 

Where: Wilson Hall 126  

Why: Hear Dr. Francis Shen, Instructor in Psychology at Harvard Medical School and Professor of Law at the University of Minnesota, speak about the revolutionary and interdisciplinary field of Neuro-Law. Shen will address how neuroscience can better inform the legal system in areas such as memory and criminal responsibility. 

Who: Vanderbilt Association of Neuroscience and Law 

 

What: “The Suffrage Centennial, the Family, and the March for Life” 

When: Friday, Jan. 17 at 12 p.m.

Where: Vanderbilt Law School – Renaissance Room

Why: Yale Law School Professor Reva Siegel will deliver this year’s Florrie Sanders Wilkes lecture at the Vanderbilt Law School, centered around her work on inequalities in the law and how the Constitution interacts with modern thought.

What: Men’s Basketball vs. Tennessee 

When: Saturday, Jan. 18 at 5 p.m. 

Where: Memorial Gym 

Why: Watch history go down in Memorial Gym as Coach Stackhouse faces the rival Vols for the first time this season.

What: Women’s Basketball vs. Arkansas 

When: Sunday, Jan. 19 at 5 p.m.

Why: Come support your ‘Dores in this riveting SEC showdown.

Cultural

What: Spring Festival 2020 

When: Friday, Jan. 17 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Where: SLC Ballroom 

Why: Come celebrate the Chinese New Year with great cuisine, music, games and communal festivity for this year’s Spring Festival. 

Who: Vanderbilt Undergraduate Chinese Association 

 

What: 2020 MLK Joint Day of Service 

When: Saturday, Jan. 18 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Where: Tennessee State University Kean Hall 

Why: Participants from universities all over Nashville will gather for a day of celebration and service. This includes an interview with a leader of the Nashville Sit-Ins, Dr. Rip Patton, as well as projects with food banks, veterans affairs and other service-based activities. Make sure to arrive early to sign up for the service of your choice, and turn your weekend into a meaningful experience.

Recreational

What: VSG Pop-Up Thrift Shop 

When: Friday, Jan. 17 and Saturday, Jan. 18 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

Where: Sarratt 216/220 

Why: Join the VSG Environmental Affairs Committee in this eco-friendly shopping event! There will be more than one thousand items available for free, including clothes and electronics. Donations will be accepted throughout the event as well.

Arts

What: Into the Woods

When: Jan. 16-18 at 7 pm 

Where: Ingram Hall 

Why: Come see Vanderbilt Off-Broadway’s 2020 mainstage production of Into the Woods! Journey into the forest for an adventure full of magic, fun and surprises. Tickets are free for students.

What: Variations Spring Auditions 

When: Tuesday, Jan. 14 at 8 p.m. 

Where: Buttrick 212

Why: Do you love singing and want to live out your 2020 resolutions by stepping into the spotlight? Then this one’s for you! The Vanderbilt Variations will be hosting spring auditions for new group members.
