Indie pop band flor is coming to Nashville this Wednesday on the tour for their new album, “ley lines.” They will be performing at Exit/In on Elliston Place Sept. 18 alongside electric piano genius joan and fellow pop recording artist Lostboycrow.

Flor, previously known as Sunderland, first formed in 2014 in Hood River, Oregon. Lead singer Zachary Grace teamed up with bassist Dylan Williams, guitarist McKinley Kitts and drummer Kyle Hill to create tracks based on electronic, synth sounds. After relocating to L.A. to forward their careers, the band received its first deal with Ramen, an independent label in Gainesville, Florida. They released their debut album, “coming out, you’re hiding,” in May 2017, which was a collection of personal narratives revealing the group’s journey overcoming emotional barriers. “ley lines” echoes a similar sentiment, illustrating the residual fear that remains after dark times and the pressure to maintain optimism. Amongst their newest tracks include “little light one,” with captivating lyrics such as “I’m a little scared walking with you here. It’s a brand new world I never knew, in the strains of comfort too.” With Grace’s innocent, gentle voice layered above triumphant melodies, the music and lyrics provide an ironic yet intriguing sense of mysteriousness.

In addition to flor, indie pop duo joan and Lostboycrow will be taking the stage Wednesday night. Alan Thomas and Steven Rutherford of joan will be sharing their 80s synth-pop inspired songs with personal twists. The duo hails from Little Rock, Arkansas, and aims to redefine and revive the 80’s pop culture that was overshadowed by country and hard rock. Lostboycrow, or Chris Danks, will share his R&B, pop and electronic fused melodies from his newest album “Santa Fe.” His music, like flor, also alludes to personal experiences, with many songs revealing his desire to hold on to his Northwest roots despite being influenced by L.A. culture. The singer now has nearly 2 million monthly listeners and almost 60,000 subscribers on Spotify.

Whether you’re looking for a last hurrah before Parent’s Weekend or are just a lover of indie pop, Exit/In is an intimate, unique place to experience these three artists that provide the best of their genre. Tickets can be purchased at the door if they have not sold out, or you can get them on the Exit/In website starting at $18. All concert attendees must be 18 and over.
