Lights on the Lawn, Vanderbilt’s annual fall music festival, will host a kickoff event Sept. 7 at 8:30 p.m. The event will feature a talent showcase made up entirely of student artists, highlighting some of the greats that reside on our campus.

Hailing from the Northeast, Chris Ruediger finds a home for his country voice in Music City. From the opposite coast comes Maeve Steele, who gives a “pop-noir” twist to some of music’s most classic styles. Lackhoney, a Miami native who brings a unique spin to the underrated Nashville hip-hop scene, will also be featured along with the Hive. Soulful R&B singer-songwriter Ben Kessler promises to bring fans memorable lyrics that explore themes of love and vulnerability when he takes the stage Saturday night.

Some of the most well-known Vanderbilt bands will also be in attendance, including the show-stopping Melodores and New Parlor. The event will take place at the Cowan at Topgolf, where the doors will open at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale day-of for $10 each.
