Vanderbilt Baseball announced the addition of Jason Esposito to its coaching staff on July 7, 2025.
Esposito, who is expected to serve as the team’s hitting coach, joins the staff after the departure of assistant coach Jayson King.
Esposito most recently served as an assistant hitting coach for the Cleveland Guardians, who were ranked the ninth-best offense in the MLB according to Bradford Doolittle of ESPN. The Guardians finished the 2024 season as the American League Central champion and American League runner-up.
Esposito is no stranger to West End as he played three years (2009-2011) at Vanderbilt under current head coach Tim Corbin. In those three years, the Connecticut native started 196 games with a career batting average of .331. He also gained a myriad of national honors, including three all-regional team honors, the 2011 Nashville Regional MVP and a 2011 First Team All-American. Following a stellar junior year, Esposito was drafted in the second round of the 2011 MLB Draft by the Baltimore Orioles.
“[Esposito] has been special to our program for a long time,” Corbin said. “He was ultra-competitive, tough, a high achiever and was one of the best fielding infielders Vanderbilt has had…We are fortunate to bring him on campus to work with our players.”
After earning the No. 1 overall seed in the 2025 NCAA Tournament, Vanderbilt suffered an early exit in the regional round after its bats went cold. Esposito seems poised to improve the Commodores’ offense which has, at times, struggled to keep up with its power-hitting SEC opponents.
