When: Tuesday, January 9 at 5:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Where: Kissam MPR
Why: If you are interested in working in the United Nations, learning more about the rising turmoil in northeast Asia or connecting with a Rhodes Scholar, join the Global China Connection in welcoming Mason Ji, a former UN delegate.

What: Timmy Global Health Movie Night
When: Thursday, January 11 at 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Where: Buttrick 101
Why: Timmy Global Health will be showing a movie about global health and medical issues. All event proceeds will go toward the group’s partner organization in Quito, Ecuador.

Where: Rudy’s Jazz Room
Why: The Giovanni Rodriguez group is an electrifying Nashville favorite in the salsa and jazz scene. Join the group for a night of dancing and wonderful music. There is a $10 cover.

What: Literature, Arts & Medicine: Cultural Series
When: Thursday, January 11 at 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm
Where: Light Hall
Why: Literature, Arts & Medicine is pleased to host the Cultural Series, a monthly creative performance lunch hour. There will be performances in music, dance, literary readings, art and more by friends and colleagues. All are invited.

What: Introduction to Improvisation
When: Monday, January 8 at 6:30 p.m.
Where: Third Coast Comedy Club
Why: This introduction to improvisation requires no experience. All are welcome to learn improv’s foundational ideas of listening, agreement and shared construction.

What: Truffle Making Class
When: Wednesday, January 10 at 7:00 p.m.
Where: Tempered Café & Chocolates
Why: Tempered’s chocolatiers will teach the class inside tricks on how to make their delicious chocolate truffles. The class goes step by step on how to create the truffles, and each participant will take home a tray of treats. Buy tickets here.

Why: Vanderbilt Off-Broadway is proud to present American Idiot, a musical inspired by Green Day’s music. Green Day’s powerhouse album is brought to life in this electric-rock musical of youthful disillusion.

What: Dudes’ Day: lululemon and Usher
When: Tuesday, January 9 at 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Where: Inner Light Yoga Nashville
Why: Inner Light Yoga is teaming up with lululemon to support #broga, offering males free entry and a black card to redeem a free item from the lululemon store. Tracks by Usher will dominate the day’s playlists, and women are encouraged to join for $10.

What: Escalation
When: Thursday, January 11 at 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Where: Rand 308
Why: The Escalation Workshop is a 90-minute training consisting of a video and facilitated discussion on the topic of relationship violence. Participants learn about the prevalence and warning signs of dating violence and how to support a friend.
