What: Study Abroad 101
When: Monday, September 10 at 3:10 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: Sarratt Student Center
Why: Learn about study abroad options from GEO staff and students who have recently returned from their adventures abroad. The presentation will cover many topics including eligibility requirements, how to choose a program, the application process, and whether the common myths you’ve likely heard about studying abroad are true.

What: Career Center Vision Sessions with IICC: Session 1
When: Tuesday, September 11 at 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Where: Sarratt 335
Why: Participate in fun and creative exercises with the IICC to discover your unique strengths, talents, skills and experiences that you will likely apply in your post-graduate endeavors.

What: Vanderbilt Football at Notre Dame Fighting Irish
When: Saturday, September 15 at 1:30 p.m.
Where: Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, IN
Why:If you aren’t making the trip to South Bend for the game, tune in on NBC.

What: Rosh Hashanah Seder Dinners, Services and Meals
When: Monday and Tuesday, September 10-11 (full schedule here)
Where: Various locations on campus (see link above)
Why: Vanderbilt Hillel will ring in the Jewish New Year with a variety of service and meal options for every student, keeping in mind students’ busy schedules. High Holidays on Demand are express service experiences specifically designed to accommodate Vanderbilt students’ busy schedules. Food will be provided before and after each express service.

What: Women’s Changing Place at Vanderbilt
When: Tuesday, September 11 at 12:15 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Where: Buttrick 123
Why: Come learn about the history of women at Vanderbilt – students, faculty and staff – from the university’s conception to present day. Lunch will be provided.

What: Weekly Yoga with Jo-Jo Jackson
When: Thursday, September 13 at 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Where: Black Cultural Center
Why: Now that classes are in full gear, it’s easy to forget to prioritize having a healthy lifestyle and a sense of wellbeing. Certified yoga instructor Jo-Jo Jackson will offer recurring yoga classes at the BCC throughout the school year to help nourish the body and the spirit.

What: Neuroscience Majors Ice Cream Social
When: Thursday, September 13 at 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Where: Wilson Lawn
Why: Whether you’re a current or prospective neuroscience major, meet with others in the field and learn more about the major in a social environment. A neuroscience faculty member will also be present to answer questions and talk about his or her own career experience.

What: Latin American Film Festival
When: Wednesday, September 12 at 5:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.
Where: The Commons, Peabody Campus
Why: Join the Center for Latin American Studies and The Commons for a film series focused on Latin America. Each of the four film screenings will also feature a free dinner and a group discussion led by a VU faculty member specializing in the themes presented in the film.

What: Vanderbilt Orchestra Concert
When: Friday, September 14 at 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Where: Ingram Hall
Why: Come enjoy the Vanderbilt Orchestra’s first concert of the year (for free) to hear an ensemble of music majors’ can’t-miss performance.

What: Study Skills and Time Management Workshop
When: Wednesday, September 12 at 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Why: Become a more efficient learner by exploring how to balance your schedule more effectively and get enough sleep on a student’s busy schedule. See how learning theories and time management practices come together to help you resolve your academic issues.

What: Night at the Museum
When: Thursday, September 13 at 6:45 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Where: Frist Art Museum
Why: Spend an evening learning how to use visual arts as a tool to enhance meaning in your life, cultivate empathy and compassion for others and increase tolerance.
