What: Latino America Hoy: The Personal Journey of an American from a US Territory
When: Monday, February 26 at 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Where: Buttrick 208
Why: This event launches VAHS’ new current events series: Latino America Hoy. The goal is to provide a space to learn about and discuss different issues and realities affecting Latin American countries, territories and the people with ties to them in the Vanderbilt and Nashville community.

What: An Educational Safari
When: Monday, February 26 at 7:15 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.
Where: Wyatt Rotunda
Why: Dr. Durnan, a Peabody alumnus and Director of University School of Nashville, went on an “educational safari” to peek behind the curtain of schools nationwide that are doing exemplary work. He engaged with micro schools, alternative schools, charter schools, experiential schools, schools invoking technology for deeper learning and schools doing more with less. This event offers a snapshot of the education reform landscape.

What: FORUS Minority Career Expo
When: Tuesday, February 27 at 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Where: Student Life Center
Why: A minority career expo that will provide undergraduate students of color opportunities to speak with representatives from organizations. There will also be the chance to learn about opportunities in summer programs, internships and full-time employment/education opportunities after graduation.

What: Women’s History Month Kickoff
When: Wednesday, February 28 at 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: Margaret Cuninggim Women’s Center
Why: Come celebrate the beginning of Women’s History Month at the Women’s Center. There will be lunch, giveaways and music.

What: Ilan Lopez: Anti-Semitism in Latin America
When: Wednesday, February 28 at 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Where: Vanderbilt Hillel (Grins)
Why: Dores for Israel will host Ilan Lopez for an informative event about the anti-Semitism and anti-Israel trends in Latin America. Ilan Lopez is the Latin America Director for StandWithUs, an international Israel education organization.

What: Are You Smarter Than a First Year?
When: Tuesday, February 27 at 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Where: Sarratt 216/220
Why: Join Lambda and BSA for “Are You Smarter Than a First Year?” where we’ll ask questions that center around the lives and accomplishments of Black LGBT activists and icons. Show up with your friends to compete and enjoy the mixer afterwards.

What: Two Days, One Night
When: Thursday, March 1 at 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Where: Sarratt Cinema
Why: Sandra 
has two days and one night to convince 
her co-workers to sacrifice their bonuses
 so that she will not lose her job. This contemporary morality tale plays out with gripping realism, attuned to the affective economies of labor and social relations.

What: Holocaust Lecture Series event: Violins of Hope
When: Tuesday, February 27 at 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Where: Holocaust Lecture Series
Why: Using violins played by Jews during the Holocaust,  Violins of Hope visits Vanderbilt’s campus during its time in Nashville. Come to the event to hear powerful compositions and learn the stories behind the instruments.

What: Black Girl Magic Exhibit Opening
When: Wednesday, February 28 at 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.
Where: Black Cultural Center
Why: This event celebrates the opening of the Black Girl Magic photo exhibition.  The exhibit will be on display through the month of March, which is Women’s History Month.

Why: Join the Center for Student Wellbeing at the Wond’ry to create and design your own yoga mat. You may bring an image or create an image once you arrive. Space is limited to 10 individuals.  Each person will leave with their own yoga mat.

What: Eat/Drink Me

Why: VUMC surgeon, Dr. Lea Matsuoka, will share her knowledge and expertise about how foods and drinks impact the body. Taziki’s will be provided.
