Why: Learn how to combat problems related to inequity and inclusion. The session energizes participants to work towards becoming a better ally and a proactive community member dedicated to promoting a diverse and welcoming learning environment (it also counts for GME). Register here.

What: Lecture on Mark Zuckerberg’s War on Free Will: How Big Tech Threatens the Individual
When: Friday, February 16 at 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.

Why: Franklin Foer, a national correspondent for The Atlantic is coming to comment on his new book World Without Mind, which details the threat of big tech companies and how they undermine liberal values and violate laws which protect privacy and intellectual property.

Why: This German documentary explores what life was like growing up in communist East Germany through the lens of three young friends. The film offers a unique perspective on the skateboarding underground and counter cultural movements in Germany.

What: Production of “Smart People”
When: February 8-24 (various times)
Where: Tennessee Performing Arts Center
Why: Take a night to get off campus and see “Smart People.” The play is set just before Obama’s election in 2008 and examines how the dynamics of talking about race affect the romantic lives of four racially and ideologically diverse Harvard intellectuals. What: Kayak Roll Clinic

Why: Whether you want to learn a new skill or refine your kayaking techniques for whatever adventurous spring break trip you may have planned, get more familiar on a kayak and learn to roll. Kayakers of all experience levels are welcome.
