As more and more Vanderbilt students leave in a post-finals mass exodus, campus can start to feel like a ghost town. If you’re not one of the fortunate few that can turn in their papers from the comforts of home, don’t fear—the Hustler has done some digging to find cheerful weekend events that will keep you sane. What: Vandy Cooks—Holiday Desserts Served Up Healthy
When: Friday, December 8 at 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Where: Vanderbilt Recreation & Wellness Center
Why: Enjoy holiday dessert favorites such as vegan gingerbread cookies and other desserts with Registered Dietitians, Marissa Wertheimer and Marilyn Holmes and Certified Health Education Specialist and Health Educator, Emily Cox. Attendees will receive recipes and food samples.

What: Angel Tree
When: Friday, December 8 at 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Where: Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center Field House
Why: Angel Tree is an annual event co-hosted by Vanderbilt Student Government and The Charles Davis Foundation. The program pairs Vanderbilt students with kindergarten students currently attending high poverty primary schools in the Nashville area. Each Vanderbilt student is instructed to spend no more than $25 to purchase gifts for their student and provide them with a Christmas experience that they would not have access to otherwise. These gifts are then given to those students at the “big event” on the 8th, where the roughly 400 kindergarten students come together at the Vanderbilt Recreation Center Field House for a large holiday party with snacks, events and the eventual reception of their gifts.

What: Music City Winterfest 2017
When: Saturday, December 9 at 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Where: Centennial Park 
Why: Shop the Holiday Market for unique gifts from Nashville craft artisans, enjoy live music by local performing groups and treat yourself at the food trucks, beer garden, s’mores stations and more. Admission is free.

What: Goat Yoga Nashville/Ugly Sweater Party
When: Saturday, December 9 at 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Where: 9837 Split Log Rd, Brentwood, Tennessee 37027
Why: The Goat Yoga Nashville Ugly Christmas Sweater Party offers yoga and photo opportunities with the goats. Bring your own mat and water, and buy your tickets beforehand.

What: Santa Rampage 2017
When: Saturday, December 9 at 5:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m.
Where: Christmas tree at Public Square Park to Downtown
Why: Over 1,000 people dressed as Santa will gather for this spirited bar crawl. Participants must bring cash.

What: A Christmas Story
When: Sunday, December 10 at 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Where: Roxy Regional Theatre
Why: The Roxy Regional Theatre will be screening A Christmas Story (1983), a holiday classic. Tickets are $5.

What: Community Workout
When: Saturday, December 9 at 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
Where: lululemon Nashville
Why: Join lululemon Nashville and Klug Fitness for the final community workout of 2017. Stretch therapy from Revive Sports Recovery will follow.

What: Declutter December
When: Saturday, December 9 at 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Where: The Ingram Commons
Why: The 10 Commons Houses are hosting an event to donate old or unused clothes throughout December. The clothes will be donated to Nashville Rescue Mission. Donations are being collected via bins in each of the Commons houses.

What: Star Wars Marathon Party
When: Saturday, December 9 at 12:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Where: Light Hall 202
Why: There will be a Star Wars marathon in preparation of the release of the new Star Wars movie (in theaters December 15, 2017). Pizza and soda will be provided by the Vanderbilt Wellness Committee.

Why: Tongue ‘N’ Cheek will be having a free improv comedy show before break. Make sure not to miss an evening full of laughs.

What: Sarratt Holiday Arts Festival
When: Saturday, December 9 at 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Where: Sarratt Student Center
Why: The festival is a place to find unique hand-crafted items. Every year, there are Nashville and Vanderbilt artisans, jewelers, potters, fiber artists and printmakers with wonderful gift items. The festival is an annual fundraiser for Sarratt Art Studios and the Sarratt Youth Art Institute.

What: AASA & David Project Study Break
When: Friday, December 8 at 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Where: Buttrick 306
Why: This study break honors the ancient Jewish custom of movies and Chinese food on Christmas Day. Come prepared for food and episodes of “Fresh Off the Boat” and “Broad City” as the event brings together two different communities on campus.
Who: Asian American Student Association and The David Project

What: Study Things at the Rec
When: Friday, December 8 at 5:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and Saturday, December 9 at 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday, December 10 at 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Where: Vanderbilt Recreation & Wellness Center (2700 Children’s Way, Nashville, TN)
Why: The Rec is open 24/7 from Dec. 7th at 11:00 p.m. through 5:00 a.m. on Dec. 14th. Students can access the Rec and utilize study spaces throughout the facility—study in the conference rooms, play a game of basketball, re-energize with a snack or take a quick nap on the sofas.  There will be therapy dogs, free food, group games, holiday movies, cookie decorating, group fitness classes, late night climbing, basketball and more.
